Ella graduated from Flinders University with a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Hons) in 2011, where she gained experience working in a number of crew roles on short films and features.

Having worked closely with us on the Wastelander Panda release, as well as producing our short film, Mrs. Peterson’s Birthday, Ella will now continue to work across our slate of projects and help us expand Epic Films into the future.

For 24 hours from midnight to midnight, the whole Wastelander Panda crew will be staying awake to promote our Pozible crowdfunding project at http://wastelanderpanda.pozible.com

We’re trying to raise $20,000 to make three more episodes of Wastelander Panda. So far we’ve created a 3 minute prologue, which has had over 150,000 views since it was released online earlier this year.

We like to describe the film as “Cowboys and Indians… but with Bollywood Indians.” Written by Chris Kellett and Marcus McKenzie, and directed by Chris, the film is currently in development but will hopefully be shot early in 2012.

Epic Films founder Kirsty Stark won silver at the Australian Cinematographers Society awards last night in the Fictional Drama Shorts category for her work on the s16mm Epic Films production, L’Artiste!.

Kirsty then went on to win the Cliff Ellis Memorial Award to the Active member showing the most potential, also for L’Artiste!

Congratulations to other local SA cinematographers who won awards, including:

The shoot for our third Epic Films short – The Beekeeper – took place over the weekend.

The film, written and directed by Marcus McKenzie, tells the story of a young boy and his grandad discussing the dietary requirements of bees. But does Grandad know more about this insects than he’s letting on?

Thanks to our fantastic actors, Graham Craig (Grandad), Joshua Gutowski (Boy) and Belinda Mackey (Mother), and to all of the crew, for a great weekend. Thanks also to the Edwards family, for letting a group of strangers film on your property all weekend.

The rushes look fantastic, and we can’t wait to get started on the edit.
